Hillcrest Moves Forward With Hemstock Road Bridge Repairs

HILLCREST — The Village of Hillcrest is moving forward with repairs to the Hemstock Road Bridge after Alliance Contractors confirmed it can complete the work for about $85,000. Baxter and Woodman has provided design information for the work and will oversee construction, with a final inspection to be completed before the bridge can reopen.

The repair is expected to address structural problems that have kept the bridge closed since last fall. Trustees also discussed separate damage to a retaining wall, guardrail and sign after a vehicle struck a different bridge on Bethel Road. The retaining wall remains stable but will be monitored for changes. Officials said the village will pursue possible insurance coverage for that damage. The retaining wall repair will remain separate from the Hemstock Road Bridge project, but may be done by Alliance if the cost is minimal.
