Rockford Delays Vote On Naming Acting Mayor

ROCKFORD —  Rockford is delaying a vote on naming an acting mayor.  The decision was made during Monday night’s City Council meeting.  The move comes after current Mayor Tom McNamara requested the delay while city leaders investigate the legal requirements for appointing an acting mayor.  McNamara is stepping down at the end of next month to become the Chief Executive Officer of the Illinois Municipal League.
