ROCHELLE — Traffic on Illinois Route 38 at Interstate 39 will shift to the north side of the highway beginning Friday as work continues on the diverging diamond interchange project, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. The traffic change will allow crews to reconstruct the south lanes of Route 38 as part of the estimated $24 million project. The work includes rebuilding the interchange and installing new traffic signals at the interstate ramps and Dement Road. Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the construction zone and watch for detour and warning signs.
