ICC Approves Rail Crossing Safety Upgrades In Stillman Valley

CHICAGO — The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved funding for safety upgrades at two Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad crossings in Stillman Valley, with new automatic warning devices and gates to be installed at Stillman Road and Walnut Street; the work, estimated at $736,000, will be covered mostly by the state’s Grade Crossing Protection Fund, with the railroad responsible for the remainder and for future maintenance, and all improvements are to be completed within 18 months.
