Great American Smokeout Encourages Smokers to Quit

CHICAGO – The Great American Smokeout, held annually on the third Thursday of November, encourages smokers to take a step toward a smoke-free life by quitting for 24 hours. The event, organized by the American Cancer Society, provides resources and support to help reduce cancer risk and improve health. More than half of U.S. adults who have ever smoked have successfully quit, and the event serves as an opportunity to begin the journey toward quitting.
