Byron Budget Proposal Moves Toward Late April Approval

BYRON — Byron city officials continue to refine the proposed 2026 to 2027 budget with expectations it could be approved later this month following a public hearing scheduled for April 15th, as the city council works through final adjustments to revenue estimates and spending plans. The proposed budget includes more than $200,000 in additional revenue due to a bond related levy adjustment.  Byron City Administrator Patricia Diduch noted on Wednesday that they are planning about $580,000 in police salaries with $55,000  in overtime, about $200,000  for truck replacements in public works, and a street program totaling roughly $819,000, while officials are also considering increasing the base sewer rate from about $48 per month with a planned 7% hike potentially rising to 10%.
