ROCK FALLS — The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit and run crash that seriously injured a bicyclist Sunday night on U.S. Route 30 near Crystal Lake in rural Rock Falls. Deputies responded about 10:21 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a crash involving a bicyclist. Investigators said a westbound vehicle struck the bicyclist and then left the scene. The bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Authorities believe the suspect vehicle is a 2019 through 2024 Ram 1500 pickup truck of unknown color. The vehicle is believed to be missing its passenger side mirror and may have damage to the passenger side headlamp, grille and front fender area. The crash remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
