ROCKFORD — A woman is suing Rockford Public Schools District 205 over claims that a special education teacher attacked her non-verbal autistic son. A civil lawsuit accuses Special Education Teacher Dawn Gillis of physically assaulting the 7-year-old boy on November 7th, 2024. Gillis was arrested by Rockford Police and charged with battery. The suit says since the incident, there has been a significant decline in the child’s emotional well-being and behavior.
