CRESTON – The Village of Creston experienced some damage to their well equipment during the severe weather last month that swept across northern Illinois. The storms on March 14th caused either a power surge or a lightning strike that damaged electronics on two of the wells in the Village. At the Creston Village Board meeting Tuesday night, it was announced that the motherboard that controls gauges for Well 3 was now not working, making it difficult to track the well usage. The similar equipment for Well 2 was also showing signs of failure. Village President Tom Byro said they will turn it into insurance once they determine the cost for the replacement parts.
