ROCKFORD — Special Olympics Illinois is seeking volunteers for its Region A Bowling competition on August 16th and 17th at the Cherry Bowl in Rockford, where hundreds of athletes will compete for gold medals and a chance to advance to the next level.
Katie Risley, Director of Development for Region A of Special Olympics, Illinois said that you can get involved directly with the athletes.
“Volunteers really are the backbone of our organization at Special Olympics,” she said. “and we need volunteers to help with our bowling competition. We have a lot of bowlers participating in Special Olympics and it’s a very popular sport, so we always need help for that to go well.”
Shifts are available Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 12 to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Additional volunteers will also be needed for the sectional bowling competition on October 25, also at the Cherry Bowl, 7171 Cherryvale N Blvd.
