CHICAGO — Rep. Lauren Underwood, Ranking Member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, briefed local residents on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in the Chicagoland area following a September 6 surge. The operation, labeled “Operation Midway Blitz” by the Trump Administration, affects Illinois and parts of Indiana and involves ICE personnel as well as the U.S. Marshals, DEA, and ATF. Since the start, 250 individuals have been taken into custody and transferred to detention centers in Indiana and Wisconsin. Underwood urged residents to exercise their constitutional rights and said her office is available to help constituents navigate federal agencies.
