ROCKFORD — Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs announced nearly $200,000 in Charitable Trust grants to 10 small nonprofits, including groups in Rockford and Freeport, to support housing and job training programs. Life Decisions in Rockford received $20,000 for youth employment efforts. The Boys and Girls Club of Freeport and Stephenson County was awarded $18,000. The funding comes from nonprofit filing fees and not tax dollars. Applications for the next grant round are open through March 31.
