WASHINGTON DC – As crop prices fall and trade tensions continue, Illinois farmers are facing growing financial pressure. During a visit to Washington, D.C., Illinois Farm Bureau President Brian Duncan met with federal officials to discuss economic challenges and policy needs.
“Even with some government payments, we’re still looking at negative returns for Illinois corn and soybean farms,” Duncan said, citing a recent University of Illinois study.
He emphasized the need for stable trade policy, strong biofuel support, and a healthy livestock market to help support struggling farm incomes across the state.
