SYCAMORE — High school students serving on the DeKalb County Community Foundation’s YEP 2.Pro committee have awarded a $2,500 grant to Family Service Agency to support the organization’s Roots to Rise youth housing program. The student led committee selected Family Service Agency after focusing this year on youth support systems and substance abuse concerns in DeKalb County. Foundation officials said the funding will help provide support for young people experiencing housing instability, recovering from substance abuse and seeking a safe and supportive environment. YEP 2.Pro is part of the foundation’s Youth Engaged in Philanthropy program, which gives local students hands on experience in grantmaking, nonprofit work and community leadership. Funding for the grant came through the YEP Horizons Unlimited Fund and other community contributions.
