Duckworth, Senate Democrats Reintroduce Bill to Expand IVF Access

WASHINGTON D.C. — U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth and Senate Democratic leaders have reintroduced the Right to IVF Act, a package of bills that would establish a nationwide right to in vitro fertilization, require employer sponsored health insurance plans to cover IVF, expand coverage for military families and federal employees, and help lower treatment costs. Duckworth said the legislation comes nearly two years after President Donald Trump promised free IVF treatment during his campaign and said that promise has not been fulfilled. The measure is backed by every member of the Senate Democratic Caucus, including Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, and follows several previous efforts that were blocked in the Senate, according to Duckworth’s office.
