Skydiver Killed in Mid-Air Collision Near Rochelle

ROCHELLE — A 40-year-old man died Wednesday evening after a skydiving accident near Rochelle. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 6:50 p.m. to a report of an uncontrolled descent near 8887 S. Illinois Route 251. The man was found in the parking lot with significant injuries and was later pronounced dead at Rochelle Community Hospital. A second skydiver was located at Koritz Field with minor injuries. Authorities say the two collided mid-air, causing both parachutes to collapse. The incident remains under investigation.
