SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County Community Foundation has established the Shabbona-Lee Community Endowment Fund, a permanent fund created in 2025 through the generosity of Darryl and Ellen Kupecz of Shabbona. The fund is designated to support local projects and opportunities in the Shabbona and Lee communities and is built to grow through tax-deductible contributions from individuals, families, and businesses. It also honors Ellen Kupecz’s father, Fritz Vandre, who served as mayor and fire chief of Shabbona. Donations of all sizes are accepted, including estate and legacy gifts, and the fund is intended to provide lasting resources and encourage local investment for the benefit of future generations. Contributions can be made online at dekalbccf.org or by mail to the Community Foundation in Sycamore.
