Rockford Woman Sentenced To Prison For Stabbing Girlfriend, Setting Home On Fire

ROCKFORD –   A Rockford woman is going to prison for stabbing her girlfriend in the head and setting her home on fire while her children were home.  Amanda Nelson was sentenced to serve eight years behind bars.  Prosecutors say in December 2023, Nelson got into an argument with the victim and stabbed her multiple times.  Later that month, Nelson returned to the victim’s Rockford apartment and started multiple fires while the victim and her children were asleep.  Nelson pleaded guilty to Residential Arson and Domestic Battery in November.
