Rockford Police Use New Technology To Make Arrest


ROCKFORD –  Rockford police are crediting new technology with helping make an arrest.  Officers tried to pull over a vehicle Tuesday night near 16th Avenue, but the driver fled.  Officers used stop sticks and deployed StarChase technology to locate an unoccupied vehicle in the 27-hundred block of Kinsey Street. StarChase is a system where a small, adhesive-coated, GPS-equipped projectile is launched from a police car to track a vehicle  With the assistance of a K-9, Nelson Brown was located and taken into custody.
