Rockford Man Charged in Buckbee Street Shooting

ROCKFORD – A 25-year-old Rockford man has been charged in the early Sunday morning shooting that killed a 35-year-old man on the 300 block of Buckbee Street. Police responded around 1:13 a.m. to a ShotSpotter alert and found the victim in the roadway with apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and later died. Detectives identified Lavaughtray Vaughn as the suspect, who was taken into custody shortly after. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized four counts of first degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Vaughn was lodged in the county jail ahead of a pretrial release hearing.
