ROCKFORD — A 64-year-old Rockford man was taken into custody after allegedly kidnapping a 12-year-old girl near Kishwaukee Street and Lorden Court on Tuesday afternoon, police said. The suspect, identified as Gary Brown, allegedly forced the girl into his vehicle before she escaped near 10th Street, according to a witness. Brown, a registered sex offender who was on parole, was later arrested and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping and failure to register.
