Rochelle junior Andrew Nuyen has set a new school record in the pole vault for the indoor track season.

At the Windy City Pole Vault Summit held in Rolling Meadows on Saturday, Nuyen cleared 16 feet which was good for second place at the event.

Nuyen had broke the school record last month at the Rockford Auburn Boys Indoor Invitational by clearing 15 feet, 11 inches.

Saturday’s meet was by invitation only for the best pole vaulters in the state. Andrew is the defending champion of the state indoor meet later this month in Bloomington.

Nuyen will be competing at the New Balance Nationals in Boston next Saturday. He is seeded 5th at that meet.
