ROCHELLE – A 27-year-old Rochelle woman has died after being shot last month. Mariah Avila was on life support at a Rockford Hospital before succumbing to her injuries Sunday. Rochelle Police say on January 26th they were called to an apartment building in the 100 block of West McConaughy Ave, where they reportedly found 29-year-old Spencer Contreras deceased. Avila was airlifted to a Rockford Hospital.
The incident remains under investigation by the Rochelle Police Department and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit.
