ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved an ordinance last week updating local wastewater limits for industrial discharges to comply with Environmental Protection Agency and Illinois EPA pretreatment guidance. City officials said the limits are reviewed every five to ten years to protect the treatment plant, receiving waters, and biosolids. The updated limits were developed using recent sampling data, engineering analysis, and EPA approved methods. Some limits were increased or removed where appropriate, while others remain unchanged to meet regulatory standards. Officials said the changes will not affect residential users and will apply only to industrial and hauled waste dischargers.
