Rochelle Council Hears Details of Upcoming Emergency Purchase of Replacement Transformers

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council heard details Monday about  the upcoming emergency purchase of two 3000 kVA copper wound transformers to restock city inventory following a recent transformer failure at Wheatland Tube. City staff estimated the cost at about $300,000 and said typical lead times for this equipment are 10 to 14 weeks, prompting the need to move forward quickly to avoid future shortages. Officials said the purchase will be approved at the next council meeting.
