Rochelle Council Approves Repayment of Duplicate State Grant Funds

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved the repayment of $102,946.90 to the State of Illinois after a duplicate drawdown request caused an overpayment connected to the city’s sewer lining project funded through a Community Development Block Grant. City officials said grant administrator Ellen Burgeson reported the error immediately after the duplicate request was made during technical issues with the state grant system, which temporarily allowed only state employees to process requests. The repayment was required under the terms of the grant agreement.
