Ramp to Northbound I-39 Closed in Winnebago County

ROCKFORD — The ramp from Baxter Road to northbound Interstate 39 in Winnebago County is closed to all traffic due to weight restrictions on the Kishwaukee River bridge, officials said. Vehicles over 20 tons must use a detour via Baxter Road, Illinois 251 and Bypass U.S. 20. The closure follows a structural inspection in late July that identified critical issues on the bridge, prompting the right lane to be closed and repairs to begin. Drivers are advised to follow posted signs, obey speed limits, and watch for workers and equipment.
