Prosecutors Seek 12.5-Year Prison Term, $1.5M Fine for Ex-Illinois House Speaker Madigan

CHICAGO – Prosecutors are asking a federal judge to give former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan a 12.5-year prison sentence. In a memorandum sent to Judge John Robert Blakey, government attorneys also asked that Madigan pay a fine of $1.5 million dollars for his crimes. Madigan was convicted on ten counts of corruption Feb. 12. Sentencing is scheduled for June 13 in Chicago.
