Polo Yard Waste Pickup Begins April 6

POLO — The City of Polo will begin free yard waste pickup for residents on April 6, with collection continuing each Monday through the last Monday in November. Officials said yard waste must be prepared so it can be handled by one person. Residents may use yard waste bags, containers marked with an X that weigh no more than 35 pounds and contain no garbage or dog waste, or bundles of branches and debris tied securely and no longer than 4 feet. Overfilled containers will not be collected. Small storm damage should be prepared as regular yard waste, while large storm debris should be placed at the edge of the road for city crews to cut, load and haul. Yard waste pickup will move to the following day when a holiday falls on a Monday. Residents may also dispose of yard waste at the burn area at 2186 South Galena Trail Road, also known as the Old Sewer Plant.
