Polo Approves Transfer of Former School Property for Residential Development

POLO – The Polo City Council last week voted to transfer the old Congress School property at 208 North Congress Avenue to the Polo Economic Development Corporation for future residential development. The site was purchased by the city in 2023 and demolished to prepare it for housing use. Officials declared the land surplus in December 2025 and said the development corporation is best positioned to market the property to builders. The ordinance authorizes the mayor to complete the property transfer and directs that the land be used for residential purposes.
