Oregon Marks Arbor Day With Tree Planting at Dog Park

OREGON – The City of Oregon celebrated Arbor Day by planting trees at the dog park Saturday, adding much-needed shade for both pets and their owners. Oregon planted two greenspire lindens and a swamp white oak, chosen for their size and shade potential.  Mayor Ken Williams said they wanted to make the park nicer for all.

“We’ve had a number of requests to add a tree into the dog park because really there’s no shade here at all so when the owners are out with their pups they get a chance to stand under the tree and enjoy the outdoors,” he said. “We as Oregon we’re very proud of our tree city designation because it provides a number of benefits.”

Public Works is also updating fencing and working to better separate areas for small and large dogs within the dog park.
