MENDOTA — One person was injured in a shooting around 8 p.m. Thursday near Fourth Avenue and Sixth Street in Mendota, according to Mendota Police Chief Jason Martin. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries to a lower extremity and was taken to an area hospital. The suspect, who has yet to be official identified, was reportedly taken into custody in Peru. A red pickup-truck was towed from Peru to the Mendota Police Station late Thursday. Authorities say the suspect allegedly fired from their vehicle into the victim’s at the intersection of Fourth Ave and Sixth Street.
Further details are expected to be released Friday morning. Police say they consider this an isolated incident.
