PROPHETSTOWN — One person is dead and another is hurt following a two-vehicle crash in Whiteside County. The accident happened Wednesday near the intersection of Perkins and Mill roads in rural Prophetstown. One of the drivers, 39-year-old Benjamin Weidel, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
