OREGON — The Veterans Assistance Commission of Ogle County reported 31 new veterans enrolled in its program in July, with $46,728.40 awarded in retroactive benefits that month. The agency is approaching $1 million in benefits provided to area veterans over the past year and is discussing a move from its current rented office to county-owned property, possibly the old courthouse. Board President of the VAC Becky Davis said they have been at a number of events all summer.
“I think even if it’s just one person that calls, that to me is a positive. So it’s one more that didn’t know that there were resources out there,” she said.
Davis said efforts are underway to transition commission employees onto the county system by the end of September, while outreach events and public engagement continue to expand awareness of available services.
The Veterans Assistance Commission of Ogle County works to connect local service members with benefits such as VA disability compensation, pensions, health care, and education. The commission’s work has helped bring millions of dollars in aid and economic impact to the county, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting those who served.
