Ogle County Board Denies Vegetative Barrier Change for Solar Project

OREGON — The Ogle County Board on Tuesday rejected a request from Forreston IL Solar 1, LLC to reduce the vegetative barrier around its 2-megawatt commercial solar project at the 12000 block of West Grove Road. The project had been required to install two tiers of trees or shrubs between the panels and nearby properties to screen the facility. The company asked to install a single tier instead, citing the low population density of the area. The board voted 13-10 against the change. The board approved a separate request to use CAB wiring for intra-project power and communication lines, a standard underground cabling system, with a 22-1 vote.
