OREGON — The Ogle County Board is set to place a non-binding advisory question on the March 17, 2026, primary ballot asking voters whether Illinois should participate in the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit program, which allows individuals to receive a federal tax credit of up to $1,700 for donations to organizations that provide funds for K-12 students’ academic needs. If Illinois joins, students in public, private, and homeschool settings could use the funds for tutoring, classes, books, test fees, educational therapies, and other educational services. The program is funded by private donations, would not reduce public school funding, and would allow Illinois students to benefit from tax-credit scholarships already available in other states.
