BLOOMINGTON – Two DeKalb County fire departments received Rural Development Grants from Illinois Farm Bureau. The Somonauk Fire Department will use the funding to purchase battery powered tools for agricultural emergencies. The Malta Fire Protection District will use its grant to buy battery powered rescue equipment including a saw, grinder, and cutoff saw for agricultural entrapment incidents. Illinois Farm Bureau and COUNTRY Financial awarded 30 grants totaling $120,000 to rural projects across the state.
