FRANKLIN GROVE — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two recent reports of suspicious interactions involving children and is urging the public to remain alert. Deputies said the first incident was reported April 22 in Franklin Grove, where a white male driving either a silver van or white pickup truck approached children and asked if they wanted to make extra money, but officers were unable to locate anyone matching the description. A second incident reportedly occurred April 30 and was reported to Amboy police on May 1, involving a white male with a beard driving a white van who allegedly tried to get children to approach his vehicle. Authorities said there is no indication of any attempted abduction, but both cases remain under investigation. The sheriff’s office is asking parents to talk with their children about personal safety and to avoid contact with unknown individuals, and is urging residents to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office or their local police agency.
