LEAF RIVER — Authorities seized 166 cannabis plants and arrested a 46-year-old Leaf River man after a search warrant was executed Tuesday morning in the 6000 block of North Leaf River Road, according to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office. Joseph Gartman was charged with unlawful possession of more than 50 but fewer than 200 cannabis plants, a Class 2 felony. He was taken to the Ogle County Jail and later released under the SAFE-T Act, with a court date set for Oct. 17. The warrant was the result of an investigation by the Ogle County Special Operations Unit with assistance from multiple agencies.
