Illinois Renaming Illinois School for the Visually Impaired

JACKSONVILLE  —  Illinois is renaming the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired in Jacksonville.  Governor Pritzker signed a bill that officially renames the school to the Illinois School for the Blind.  Officials say the updated name reflects years of feedback from students, faculty, alumni, families and blind Illinoisans who emphasized the importance of language that recognizes identity, independence and achievement.
