Illinois Native Named To NASA’s 2025 Class of Astronaut Candidates

SAVANNA  —  An Illinois native could be headed to space.  NASA announced its new class of astronaut candidates yesterday.  The list included U.S. Air Force Major Cameron Jones from Savanna, Illinois.  The 35-year-old is one of ten candidates out of more than eight-thousand applicants across the county.  He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Jones recently reported to Johnson Space Center in Houston to begin nearly two years of training.
