SPRINGFIELD — Illinois home sales were nearly flat in April compared with a year ago, with 11,413 closed sales statewide, down 0.4 percent, while the median sales price rose 5.2 percent to $326,000, according to new data from Illinois Realtors. Compared with March, statewide sales rose 12.1 percent. The Chicago metro area also saw a small decline in year over year sales but posted a 13.7 percent monthly increase, with the median price rising to $390,000. The Rockford metro area recorded one of the largest regional changes, with closed sales falling 39 percent year over year to 191, though the median price still increased 1.9 percent to $210,000.
