Illinois Home Sales Rise Slightly in December

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois home sales increased 2 percent in December 2025 compared with the same month a year earlier, with 10,237 properties changing hands statewide. The median sales price rose 6.3 percent to $299,900. Chicago saw 1,615 closed sales, up 0.4 percent, with a median price of $350,000. Markets in Carbondale–Marion, Champaign–Urbana, Springfield, and Rockford recorded notable price gains, while some areas including Bloomington, Peoria, and Danville saw prices decline. Statewide, sales were up 8.5 percent from November, while the median price increased 1.2 percent.
