Illinois Cracks Down on Impaired Driving Ahead of Labor Day Weekend

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois State Police warn against impaired driving as Labor Day approaches. Over 200 local agencies are joining the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to enforce road safety. Driving under the influence is dangerous and entirely preventable, with severe consequences like fines, legal issues, and potential fatalities. Last year, during Labor Day weekend in Illinois, 14 people died in crashes, with alcohol involved in some cases. Increased patrols will target impaired drivers to protect everyone on the road. People are urged to use a sober driver if they plan to drink or use drugs.
