CHICAGO — Gov. JB Pritzker, Attorney General Kwame Raoul and the Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that $18.4 million in grants will fund 25 new electric vehicle charging stations along interstate corridors after a court order restored money previously withheld by the Trump administration. The funding, part of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, will support the construction of 167 fast-charging ports at locations across Illinois, including Springfield, Bloomington, Champaign, Effingham, Pontiac and Gurnee. State officials said the investment advances efforts to expand EV infrastructure, reduce emissions and grow Illinois’ clean energy economy.
