OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office will host its second annual Frontline Females Camp from June 1 through June 3 at the Public Safety Building in Oregon, offering a three day program for women age 16 and older to explore careers in law enforcement. Daily sessions run from 8:30 am to 4 pm and include hands-on activities in investigations, communications, corrections, patrol, and specialty units, with breakfast and lunch provided for participants. Emily Hardesty of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said, “We brought in a wide variety of speakers who are all law enforcement officers. We covered everything from the Department of Natural Resources, drone operations, investigations, canine, and crime scene investigations.” Ali VanVickle of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said that female representation is important, “It’s usually about 12% of the law enforcement population is female and the other 88% is male. So we’re trying to bump those numbers up because women in law enforcement really matter.” Registration is available by scanning the QR code on the event flyer.
