GENOA –The cause of a fire that destroyed several homes in the Riverbend subdivision in Genoa is under investigation. Fire crews responded to the scene around 4:45 AM Sunday in the 200 block of Market Street, where one home was fully engulfed in flames. The fire spread to two nearby homes. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Genoa Police Department, but is not considered suspicious in nature. Authorities say strong winds contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.
