Fire Danger Elevated Across Area Due to Dry and Windy Conditions

ROCHELLE— Residents are being urged to use caution with outdoor activities today as warm temperatures, gusty southwest winds and low humidity increase the risk of grass and brush fires. Forecasters said winds could gust up to 25 mph while humidity levels fall as low as 25 percent, creating conditions that can allow fires to spread quickly. Officials advised people to be careful with open flames, sparks, farm equipment, smoking materials and vehicles parked on dry grass.
