Durbin, Duckworth Demand Clarity on Infrastructure Funding Delays for Illinois

WASHINGTON DC – Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth have sent a letter to the U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, expressing concern over disruptions to federal infrastructure funding for Illinois projects caused by the Trump administration’s pause on funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The senators are seeking answers about the status of delayed grants, including $31.7 million for electric vehicle chargers, and clarity on when Illinois will receive future infrastructure funding. Despite court rulings allowing obligated funds to resume, the senators are urging the Department of Transportation to provide guidance on when the remaining funds will be made available.
