SYCAMORE — Residents of DeKalb and Sycamore townships can take part in a drive thru shred and recycle event on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Kishwaukee Family YMCA at 2500 Bethany Road in Sycamore. Volunteers will help unload items, with a limit of two boxes or paper bags of documents and CD-Rs per vehicle. Additional items such as tennis shoes, eyeglasses, hearing aids, keys, ink cartridges, aluminum can tabs, cellphones, chargers, tablets, iPads and prepaid calling cards will also be collected for donation to the Lions of Illinois Foundation and Cell Phones for Soldiers, with Shoe Sensation of DeKalb assisting with used shoe collection. Proof of residency will be required.
